Cost of fitted brake pads and discs

I've got an old VW golf MK2 that needs new front brake pads and discs. I've been quoted £160 seems loads to me. Anyone let me know if this is decent price?

Independent. I thought they only cost about £25 so seems a lot to have them fitted

It would be a lot more than that to purchase the discs and pads, price them up online at the likes of eurocarparts then you can gauge how much you're being charged for labour.

Full disks and pads all round that's not too bad a price For anything fairly decent it would be maybe 80-100 quid. Then they need fitting.. Id fit them myself usually.

Last discs i changed we needed a blow torch and lump hammer to 'loosen' them! It can be a daunting job to people who are not mechanically or DIY minded..

There aren't many jobs I'd use a garage for, once I've had a quote. The quote us normally all I need to spur me into action.

Then again, if that were the all in price for 4 wheels, and it was a rainy miserable day on my drive, I reckon I'd pay it.

@witchdoc187 IF everything goes to plan and you have enough knowledge experience time and the other tools reqd to get round any problems you may encounter

Also; you've seen cars with dirty gunge round the front wheel trims - fitted cheap poor quality pads

Try whocanfixmycar.com people quote u for the work in local area I think but not used it myself
