I've got an old VW golf MK2 that needs new front brake pads and discs. I've been quoted £160 seems loads to me. Anyone let me know if this is decent price?
About right for pads and discs, all be it at the high end of about right. Main dealer or independent garage?
I would probably give it a go if I had any time and the safety of my son wasn't a factorbe a man and fit them yourself

Independent. I thought they only cost about £25 so seems a lot to have them fitted
Full disks and pads all round that's not too bad a price For anything fairly decent it would be maybe 80-100 quid. Then they need fitting.. Id fit them myself usually.I've got an old VW golf MK2 that needs new front brake pads and discs. I've been quoted £160 seems loads to me. Anyone let me know if this is decent price?
Last discs i changed we needed a blow torch and lump hammer to 'loosen' them! It can be a daunting job to people who are not mechanically or DIY minded..honestly mate you tube it and save yourself a fortune, as long as you can use basic hand tools you will be sound
Agreed. It’s a fairly routine job.honestly mate you tube it and save yourself a fortune, as long as you can use basic hand tools you will be sound
