It isnt even a political issue, what people like to eat, that is.

As long as she does a good job, couldnt care less what she eats/thinks, as long as she doesnt try to impose her personal opinions on others.

Which she would love to of course.

Well she's hardly doing a good job with those comments to the detriment of the meat industry and farmers is she?
Also I would suggest she is clearly trying to impose her views with these comments.
This isn't going to go down well with the majority of labour supporters I would think.

Her comments made before taking office, (I assume), are irrelevant to me. No idea what her audience was.

In office is what counts to me.

In the same way, I couldnt care less if the Health Minister smokes or not. It is what they say in opposition/office that I notice.

Well I would suggest farming and agriculture is a massive political issue and appointing someone to such a role who holds such views regardless of the context etc is just ridiculous.

Got to love the Twitter comment mentioned in the article 'Are we going to be prescribed steak patches to wean us off meat?'

If there is one type of person that irritates me the most in life it is militant Vegans.

Politics??

I agree, on both points. To a point.

Her appointment, to me, was strange, but I am prepared to wait and see what she actually says in office, and not damn her, or anyone else, for comments made prior to said appointment.

I have very little truck with Corbyn, et al, but I am not a closed book. As an irrelevant back bencher, she can pretty much say what she likes. No one other than people who share her views will even notice. Ditto the Shadow Chancellor.

But I will judge her/them, from now on. Being a member of a Shadow Cabinet is a billion miles away from being on the fringe of any political party. Like damning a football player based on a photo in a team shirt as an 8 year old.

I agree farming/agriculture is a big political hot potato, its the type of areas Labour should be looking to attract, but personal
views are not the same as party views, you can hold your own beliefs without them being made main stream
