Copa America & Gold Cup to merge

Might be good for the USMGMTKMFDMRATM to play more teams of a decent level rather then not be overly motivated to play yet another team that pulls from a population of 50k.

But who? A lot of the international dates get taken up by World Cup qualifying (for the US) or Euro qualifying (for most of the decent teams the US would realistically play). They get a couple glamour friendlies a year but I think their opportunities to play quality opponents in every FIFA window is limited.

Playing Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, etc on a regular basis will only improve us long term...T&T standing toe to toe to us is a massive problem in the bigger picture.

We should only be bothered with Mexico in the current setup. Combining things would be good long term...even if it meant failure for a cycle or two.

I read one line that ALL future merged Copas would be held on the US. That would be a massive blow and, for me, would signal the final nail in the coffin of the game. It would purely be revenue and I'll be gutted if that happens.

I've still got my fingers crossed for Copa America 23 in Ecuador to celebrate my early retirement...

I'd be more upset if we were the ones who pushed it, but it seems the CONMEBOL people were the ones all for it. I wouldn't be surprised if the U.S. as the steady host gets changed in the future.
