Thinking of trying to go to this as it could be a cheaper alternative to the WC. Problem is, I can't find any info on ticket sales. Has anyone ever been to a Copa America? If so, is it easy to get match tickets?

The 2016 tournament is going to be held in the USA. It will be the first outside of south America and is the centenary of the South American FA. I don't think stadium capacity will be an issue for that one!

Not the most practical idea for the fans I wouldn't have thought.

Due to the massive number of immigrants, people come out for all sorts of international matches in the US. Bosnia and Herzegovina regularly do "fundraisers" in St. Louis due to the large number of Bosnians there. El Salvador do the same in Baltimore.

Oh, also, the 2016 Copa America Centenario will be 16 teams. Ten South Americans, USA, Mexico, and 4 to-be-determined others.

It's going to be great. Unfortunately doesn't look like any city near me will host.

A few of us are doing this. Probably going down for 3 weeks, which will include a week in Chilean Patagonia and Punta del Este.

We'll deffo be making it a priority at Everton's ground.

Jamaica are the guest country, so if they play someone like Venezuela or Bolivia it'll be easy to get a ticket. Keep checking the official Copa America 15 website once the draw is made, as ticket details will be given on there. I reckon November we'll know a bit more.

I don't doubt it will be a great occasion. I'm no expert but will holding it in North America not hinder a lot of South American fans from getting there, despite being good for diasporas in the US?

will be nearby in Paraguay. already sold my wife on a trip to Chile (specifically the home of our brother club, Everton de Viña del Mar as it seems ace) ... who knows, maybe can synch up with the tournament.

on that note, perhaps EdVdM might be able to help. Everton has posted up some info on twitter for Yanks looking to make the trip to see a match at Goodison. they might do likewise.

A lot of South Americans need to get a visa to travel here. It's not hard, most for tourism are approved pretty easily, but it is tedious I've heard.

Why that is exactly, I don't know. Think it's mostly due to some petty state department disputes. You ask around about it and nobody has a good answer. We had shaky relationships with them from back when we used to meddle in their affairs all of the time during the Cold War, but in most cases now that's water under the bridge.

It's kind of expensive, think the average roundtrip flight is $1000-$1200 USD, but I think big sporting events like this will be expensive for the fans no matter where they are. If I want to catch a game, it'll probably be a couple hundred dollars (at least) in travel, and I live in the country!

Anyone know who has the UK rights for this? Following the exploits of Chile and Colombia in last years WC, I am actually quite interested in watching this tournament. Would love to Colombia get their revenge on Brazil.

I can remember Sky having in the past. Not sure this time though.
