Comedienne

I like that female iranian comedian quite a bit actually.

I did in small doses on Mock the Week.

But damn she plays on the Iranian thing too much. Not Omid Djalili-level, but too much.

It's not exclusive to women or Iranians, though! I've seen fat comedians focusing their gags around their weight, weird-looking comedians focusing on their weird looks, posh-sounding comedians focusing on being posh.

Fine, have your gimmicks, but good comedians have a variety of material that doesn't pertain exclusively to their own attributes.

I'm about as feminist as a male can be (Bill Bailey is one so it's not lame!) but...

female comedians...

Nah. It's almost an oxymoron. Women can be funny, for sure, I know plenty of hilarious lasses. But in terms of stage comedy, there's just no truly great female comedians for me. That said I quite like that Sarah Millican; she's the best of the bunch at the moment. Mainly because she doesn't play on being female. That's what female comedians seem to do; base their comedy around being women. It's the same kind of reason I dislike comedians like Omid Djalili -- you're Iranian, we get it... well done.
Good post
