So for those of a certain age; mine was going next door to watch some Apollo rocket take off. Would have been early 1970s. Was amazing seeing all the smoke, and blue sky, and then a few days later, going back to see them splash down into blue sea with red and white parachutes on the capsule thing.

Rented wasn't it like from..... ffs can't remember the name of the shop, could take you to it straight away but can't remember the name of it.

In fact it was only when they 'relaxed' the Hire Purchase laws that the majority decided to purchase a telly.


it wasn't Redifusion btw.
 

First thing I watched on colour TV was the opening game of the 1970 World Cup. Hosts Mexico v Soviet Union. We watched at my aunts house we didn't get colour for another few years.

As Mexico played in green and the Soviet Union played in red it would have been rubbish in black and white.

Incidentally I watched the final at Butlin's, Pwllheli.
