And never looked back... this thread has stirred up so many great memories of the 60's and early 70's, I'm reaching for the tissues my eyes are watering up that much.
EARTH CALLING BK... get that statue of the Holy Trinity commissioned NOW !! And while you're at it, don't forget one for the Golden Vision !!
Another fantastic gentleman Blockhead,my old man goes like a giggly old school girl when he speaks about Alexlol,he certainly left his mark at Goodison.

No doubt. A better sort of Naismith, but he wouldn't walk in it in front of Harvey.
I'd like to see Heath in front of Harvey so Colin could thread some through balls to him in the area.

Really don't know wether to laugh or cry when you remember Harvey and Kendall only had one cap between them. I suppose it's a similar case to when Arteta was at his peak and couldn't get into the Spanish team because there was so much quality around in his position. TBF England did have a lot of good midfielders back then so it's not like they were being kept out of the national side by a Sammy Lee or a Jordan Henderson.

But even so, one cap! one frikin cap!!!

and when you think that the players keeping him out were Mullery / Storey (?) I have a lot of time for Alf Ramsey but he did have a bit of a southern bias.

I seem to remember England went to Mexico before the world cup in 1969 and as a partial result of that some never made it to Mexico, Although I don't think Kendall was in the squad, I think Harvey was in it and played, but later found out it wasn't an 'official' cap

A number of things stick in my mind

A quote by Alf R(?) after playing at altitude...'The players with the biggest thighs didn't automatically perform well at altitude'...lungs laddie lungs.

Harvey suffered an eye injury and by the time he was recovered the squad was more or less pick in Alf's mind.

Harvey said that England were like a Club side and Ramsey picked his mr reliables

Kendall, even more so whytf not...Ramsey's club side attitude strikes again...in spades

Mullery?? hm maybe *waggles hand...balance tilted by southern bias and club side mentality.

Storey though?? do me a 'kin favour... When Kendall was keeping us in the old 1st Div on his own...like Best was doing for United.

one of footballs many mysteries.

Harvey would have gotten into the current Barca side, he was that good! For all of you too young to have seen them, imagine our first half away to Arsenal last season, we were sublime yes? The holy trinity made that performance look ordinary, truly they did they will never be matched in an Everton midfield, never!

Saw them both play and despite Inchy being a fabulous player in a fabulous team...Harvey had an aura about him..he was a part of my childhood, one of the first images of a player in royal blue. There are very few players whose names scream 'Everton' more than Colin Harvey
