I was interested in this myself, so a couple of years ago I tried the coke/pepsi challenge on some friends. Concluded that Coke and Pepsi are easily distinguishable if you have perceptive tastebuds. If you are really good you don't even need to taste them - they smell different, as my ex-barman mate was able to point out.

I mean, yeah, they're probably 98-99% the same, but like Gale says in Breaking Bad, that last 1-2% is easily distinguishable.

Coca cola vs. Pepsi is tough one. I usually buy coke cause it works with rum perfectly. But Pepsi is maybe little bit better if we are talking purely about taste.
