Methuselah

Player Valuation: £35m
I'll start with two.
At secondary school in Liverpool (St Matthews in Richard Kelly drive) I sat next to a lad whose birthday was the day after mine. Mine was on St Patrick's day. I left school in 1951 and my Dad's job moved us to Leeds later that year. I never saw my desk pal again. In 1957 I had my 21st birthday on the troopship Dunera in the middle of the Indian Ocean. My mates organised a song to be played over the ships tannoy. The next day, there was the announcement of another 21st birthday and it was the lad I sat next to at school. With over a 1,000 troops on board he took some finding but I finally made contact. That was the last time I saw him.

My second instance was shortly after I had bought my first house in Leeds. Our neighbours were a weird couple and though we didn't argue with them, we kept our distance. One Sunday we decided to go on a trip to Ilkley by train. We had some lunch in Ilkley and decided to walk up on the moors. We walked for quite a distance and saw not a soul. We could have been the only people on the planet. We came to a waterfall set back in a type of cove. There was a seat and we sat there while our two sons played about. We had been there about an hour and I jokingly said to her indoors 'who would you least like to see come round the bend in the track. I knew she would say our next door neighbours, which she did. 30 seconds later, our next door neighbours came round the bend!

Was discussing the whole 'Small World' thing yesterday with a teacher where I work. Have had it happen maybe half a dozen times to me or my parents. Most of the stories are more than I can be bothered to type right now tho! :o

I grew up off Cherry Lane

I was walking into a book shop in Baker St listening to music on my phone when the track Do you feel like we do, came on ,just as I bumped into this baldy little bloke.

With three mates and met some Geordie lasses whilst on the Norfolk Broads in July '81. Won't go too much into detail but the following year in June '82 was in a club and this lass I had gotten to know intimately the previous year tapped me on my shoulder - turned out she was there on her Hen do!! Didn't disrespect her though or her betrothed, just had a drink and a chat. Gobsmacked!

I have an extensive taste in music, but not really for popular music. Stuff I like is rarely played on the radio, so most of the time I listen to speech.

One day I was driving to my ma's and switched off a music tape i was listening to (i forget the track - something by Floyd I think) only to hear the exact same song being played on the radio, just a few words apart. Caused some confusion I can tell you.
