Coaching Salary & How to get involved in it.

We had a young lad at our club who took his level 1 and 2 badges by the time he was 20 and he landed himself a role with Bolton helping out with their youth teams. This led to him travelling the world running soccer camps for Bolton and Blackburn. He then got taken on by Man City and became manager of their Ladies team for a while. So yes it can lead to a career but it is a BIG maybe.

If you get your badges you can apply to work in summer camps in America being a coach. There are all kinds of possibilities - it is what you make of it.

However, I must stress the VAST majority of people taking these badges are just Dads coaching their son's footy team and never want to take it any further. Also if you do want to go further and take it to professional levels then there is a great feeling of bias towards ex-professional football players and an old boys network preventing 'outsiders' from getting on.

There are specific goalkeeping courses if that is what you are interested in and Liverpool FA do run them

Check out their website for other courses.

Regards the first aid course - that is part of the level 1 badge anyway so think on if you want to pay for it twice over.

Kurt is 100% right about the best coaches being the quiet ones - the worst thing you can do is scream and shout at your team, it does nothing for their development.

Loads and loads of coaches on there who will be delighted to guide you. Everything from utter beginners to professional coach level. It is a very supportive environment and like Kurt said, good luck with it.

Edit: Indeed there is a recent thread asking about the exact same thing you want to know about - started by a 15 year old from the Wirral!

cheers, will post on that and see what people think suggest.
Will be booking my Level 1 badge on saturday ready for 2013 however one last question, I see it says I need my first aid and safeguarding certficates, Do I need to do them before I go on Level 1?

Cheers lads

@Coach, Just emailed Joe Perry then! Should get back to me!
In the meantime, im gutted I didn't go Everton shop to meet Oviedoo babyy!

I'm tired, just worked my arse off all night for 2.50an hour!
Let it be.

I think most local teams would be glad of any offer of help....there's always a shortage of willing volunteers. Go along to a local side and offer to help out, not to actually take a session but just to assist the coach doing the session.....then you can learn much more than any book can teach you.....as long as its a decent coach and not just some lads dad.

Sound, I've contacted a few teams, one called Quarry Green, they look quite sound and manager has his FA Badges etc.

Only team near me who are good tbh are marine fc

Contact Hilsborough Justice Campaign Stadium, mate. We're boss. No tactics though, for puffs all that nonsense.

We do have a good 'if you don't train you don't play' policy, though. Good in the sense that it only applies to the gash players.

Starting my FA Badges soon, its pointless tbh, Steve Round and Everton GK coach only have Level 2 apparently... If I get my UEFA badges, I can guarentee I still wouldn't be in the position he is...

Its not what you know, its who you know!

I passed my first coaching badge when I was 16...... my mentor was a bloke called Osian Roberts who had just taken taken up the post of Football development officer for our area.......... Osian now is THE top man at the Welsh FA..... he is the WFA technical director of coaching,,,,, he is integral in appointing the Welsh manager and 95% of the time takes charge of the Welsh teams coaching sessions home and away...... some of the coaches who have worked under him are Gary Speed, Dean Saunders and Ian Rush......... hard work and single minded dedication can sometimes get you places........... Osian still says Hi when I see him ha ha
