Does anyone actually know how to get involved with Coaching football teams?
Im looking to get into this!
Any advice would be appreciated also

Basically, what I mean about this is...
I've been looking at doing some sort of coaching whether it be player or goalkeeper coaching (preferably goalkeeper coaching), Would it be worth it at the end, im 18 now so am I too late to start it?

lad I'm 37 now and got my UEFA C badge 18 months ago......... never too late. You need to get involved with a local well established team and then take it from there........a tip is to look out for the quiet coaches who get things done....anybody can scream and shout ut you gotta be able to back it up with knowledge.... the best coaches don't need to shout. Watch them and learn the good habits off them.

Good luck kid.

I'm 19 and just about to do the level 1 & 2 badge next year, not sure what i'm gonna do with them yet hopefully look to get involved with some local non league teams as i know a few people that might be able to help me out in that regard but my advice is watch a lot of footy, get the knowledge, go to non league games and study the game and maybe introduce yourself to a few people around the club and try and get the ball rolling

That is one thing which I will consider. I'll contact a couple of teams in my area and see whether I can just shadow them and see how they do it etc...
Again, thats one thing which im thinking about. I'm very quiet for a young lad (always have been) but I would love to get into this. Just seen on the Liverpool FA website that theres courses (First Aid and safety) which are available £25 each and then theres a goalkeeping coaching course for 150.

What I want to know though is where could this get me? Has this benefited you (career wise) and the cost?

another piece of advice mate is to go to games and do some scouting if you want i can pm you some stuff i've done in that regard

and are you from liverpool? because if so then get down to marine, really friendly club - my dad sponsors the club so i know all the people behind the scenes and they've been really great to him and really encouraging to get people involved in the game

To be frank mate if you're only doing it for the money you won't go far...... you need to love the game, learn the game and swallow in all the info you can ....unless you are guaranteed a placement at a club it's a small percentage of coaches who do make the grade. Not trying to put you off but money ( for me anyway ) is secondary.

I love football and all that but I'm just wondering as I only have an apprenticeship now is it not worth it? If the Level 1 FA Coaching badge is 150pound then surely the UEFA ones/higher certificates are alot of money?
Im on roughly 120quid a week!

That's why getting involved with a club helps mate, all clubs now , the coaches need to have a basic qualification plus first aid and a crb check, any club should pay this for you if you commit to them for a season or two.... like others have said you need to speak to a loocal side anf get the info.

Trying to attach documents to a message but cant seem to do it

but basically go to a game and watch one team for 90 minutes and write down EVERYTHING you notice

then put it all in a big report and start sending it around teams in the same league just to get your name out
if i find out how to attach i will

We had a young lad at our club who took his level 1 and 2 badges by the time he was 20 and he landed himself a role with Bolton helping out with their youth teams. This led to him travelling the world running soccer camps for Bolton and Blackburn. He then got taken on by Man City and became manager of their Ladies team for a while. So yes it can lead to a career but it is a BIG maybe.

If you get your badges you can apply to work in summer camps in America being a coach. There are all kinds of possibilities - it is what you make of it.

However, I must stress the VAST majority of people taking these badges are just Dads coaching their son's footy team and never want to take it any further. Also if you do want to go further and take it to professional levels then there is a great feeling of bias towards ex-professional football players and an old boys network preventing 'outsiders' from getting on.

There are specific goalkeeping courses if that is what you are interested in and Liverpool FA do run them

Check out their website for other courses.

Regards the first aid course - that is part of the level 1 badge anyway so think on if you want to pay for it twice over.

Kurt is 100% right about the best coaches being the quiet ones - the worst thing you can do is scream and shout at your team, it does nothing for their development.

Loads and loads of coaches on there who will be delighted to guide you. Everything from utter beginners to professional coach level. It is a very supportive environment and like Kurt said, good luck with it.

Edit: Indeed there is a recent thread asking about the exact same thing you want to know about - started by a 15 year old from the Wirral!

Hi lads,

Could someone teach me how to do boss step overs running at precisely 12.3mph?

Yes mate, PM me you bank account number, pin, sort code, i'll arrange the funds transfer with my contact at the National bank of Nigeria and then you can meet me on Kirkby industrial estate for an intense coaching session (intense basically means i won't be wearing pants).
