Club's GP annexe plans get green light

£9m could be spent on a decent striker...or someone who can take a corner...
just kidding - looks ace!

The club can borrow against future earnings from that; then there's the money fro the sale of Bellefield which will eventually sell and can, therefore, borrow against; then there's the sale of Heitinga and maybe a few million offloading Pienaar in January before his contract runs out. That's Moyes wachest for the next two transfer windows.

It's how we roll.

So were not moving for the next 10yrs then.

s that good or bad?

It could be a lot worse, we could have been halfway to becoming Knowsley FC by now.

OK Davek, pin back those lugholes. Its good news, but in al honesty, I think that this independent report into re-building GP which seems to be taking longer than the DK enquiry should have been published first. Then we could look into the whole should we move etc based on some firm evidence.

Its not often that I say that the Board, even with this decision has shown no ambition, but given the wider debate about a new stadia, I think that while a good idea, is not ambitious. I'd want to see this development within the context of a re-developed GP.

So is this a total freebie ?

or are Sodexo building it and us signing a lease for an amount of years, like they are doing with the new hospital in Manchester?

it seems that way so lets go with it. it's not a new stadium but it's better that what we have and it's costing us nothing. can't see the harm.

It is costing us.

Its costing us in lost revenue from the land use, it will cost us in rent, it will cost us in lost opportunitys to bring in other facility/estate groups to manage the building.
And we will have given them a minimum of a 50 year feehold on the land.

Sodexo are not a charity, they work on a 30% profit on all projects.
They are making a fortune thanks to new labour and PFI

And if you want more info on why PFI is bad, take a look

thanks again labour.

and thanks again labour donator Bill Kenwright, another short-sighted masterstroke.

It won't be 50 years in this case lad.

And the 30% issue. Well that might be acceptable given that they are putting alot of the money in upfront to build it.

That means 70% of PROFIT is Everton's.

I'm not one to disagree. But Sodexo mean business here.

And anything the left say should be distrusted because this is something Everton need. And Everton are not a public service. So the parallels are way off.

Couple of things I think you may have gotten wrong.

1. it will be a minimum 50 year lease, they will want to cover their investment against the possibility of everton moving on and being left with a 5 story building in an area of low value housing.
They will want to make sure they have the land rights to re-develop the building long term.
Furthermore, they will also be looking at the possibility of Liverpool building a new ground and converting the building into a hotel/facility if we ever moved on from goodison park.

There profit margin is 30%
It doesnt mean evertons is 70%
It means they want to ensure the buidling will return them and only them a 30% yeild.
It has nothing to do with everton

The left are the fabric of British society. Without the movements the left wing has produced, our way of life would not be as good.
Im a proud memeber of the left and wish people wouldnt put the 'left' into a stereotype of socialists or the labour party.

But make no mistake, Everton will be losing out in real terms on this venture.

Whichever way the spoils are portioned out (and I'd wait until the details are made public - or to the shareholders, same difference like - before passing judgement) I think the decision gives us some sort of stability at least for the forseeable on the stadium issue. I'd say this strengthens the hand of those who've been pushing for a piecemeal stadium upgrade. As DionDublin suggests, the partners on this GP annexe will have pressed for assurances the club aren't frigging off to some retail park with the next enabling developer that comes along.

This time last year we were all over the place wondering where we'd end up, and the Kopites were crowing about seeing us off to Kirkby whilst they expanded into Stanley Park; now we're copper fastened to our historical roots and they've got an uncertain future on that score! I hope John Henry carts them off to Speke so he can be handy for the airport. :P
