Welcome back Wayne
How we could do with a character like him these days.....

"There was no plan, according to Brian Clough. 'There's never been a plan,' he said. 'Just give it to John Robertson. He can play.'

And so ended a classic Clough team talk. Martin O'Neill reprises it slightly differently, but the meaning was essentially the same. 'If they have control of my ball on my pitch I'm going to get very annoyed with you and you and you...' he remembers Clough saying as he jabbed his finger at each player in the dressing room"..............

Obviously a lot of anecdotes relating to him but the best for me was him ringing down from his office and speaking to an apprentice (cant remember who but someone who made it in the game) the young lad was instructed to ..
"Make me a cup of tea"

"No chance, make it yourself"

"DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS ?"

"I do boss, do you know who this is"

"I Don't"

"In which case, like I said make it yourself"

for all the anecdotes though the distaste of his comments regarding Hillsborough really leave a bad taste.

I think there were a few more 'koffs in the original.

We could've done worse, I think we nearly did but bottled it, all in all before the drink took him...Top man.

...think it was the lad Nigel Jemson (?) who later scored for Shrewsbury against us in the FA Cup.

Without a doubt, one of the best managers ever.

But as a person, an absolute tool, apparently. My old man met him a few times. Could not stand him.

Not that that matters though.

I think that would fit with most successful managers, Fergie, Shankly, Allardyce etc.

Swap him for Mourinho then, but he won the league of Ireland dontchaknow

Haha! I honestly think that to even think you are capable of running a top flight football club, must mean you have some level of self believe, self confidence, arrogance, whatever, that most "normal" folk just do not share.

Cept Roberto, obvs!
