Closing Down

To me its just basics of the game but for a long time now when we are being attacked we just sit off and sit off letting teams play around with ease encouraging players to shoot theres just no hustle/effort

Compare that to Bolton today every time our lads had the ball there was atleast 2 men closing down, the boys should take a look at Davies today to see what a committed player does

We do it against the better teams, though.

Agreed about Davies - he's not everyone's cup of tea, but he's a real asset to have in the team.

Your right we come against Man U or Chelsea and we hustle but it should be done week in week out no matter who we play, like i said it just basics

Davies is a rabid beast of a player, I've always admired him. Gutsy and doesn't give up on any ball. *clears throat* Errr... okay, back to Everton. That was just a sad, pathetic display today. Anichebe ought to be ashamed of himself.

I totally agree. Bolton weren't that much cop today either but they did the basics well and had players who could exploit space in and around our box. We looked shockingly off the pace and out of confidence but how so when most of our players weren't involved in mid week internationals?

I looked at there starting 11 and thought if we turn up we will do these, oh how wrong i was

The sad thing is we dominated for large periods of the second half but the same old problems in the final third reared their head and our passing was poor. Its annoying we seem to take one step forward and two back, but I guess with our thin squad, injuries to key players are crucial I could have seen us winning that with the likes of Saha, Rodwell and Jags in the team.

PS their second goal was shocking defending!

I honestly dont think they would have made much diff, the complete lack of drive and effort from the whole team would have just washed over to them
