Looks like it's been a few years since this topic has come up. I was just reading an article on Daniel Agger and found this:

On Everton’s David Moyes watching him play a few months before he signed for Liverpool

“He had asked us whether he could meet me and my parents after the game and we said that of course he could. After the game I went back to my parents and waited for him and [and Agger’s agent] Per Steffensen to come but then Per phoned to say that David Moyes wasn’t going to come after all. He was being taken to the airport because he didn’t think that I was ready for the Premier League. A few months later I signed for Liverpool.”

There's a long list of options (Fer, Davis, Dickov, Riquelme come to mind), but what are your favourite Everton transfer rumours that never happened? Was it a lucky escape or a great loss?

Couldn't have got much closer to signing this guy, was gutted when it fell through.

Craig Bellamy Always stands out for me. Says he was certain about joining after his first meeting with moyes but when they met the second time he was a completely different person.

Bellamy on the meeting:
‘I would have signed without that second meeting, but now I couldn’t,’ he wrote. ‘I don’t hold a grudge and have got a lot of time for him. My guess is someone told him I would be trouble, and he panicked.’

Think he would have been a perfectly fine player for us, although he's definitely a tool.
