Doing this on Saturday with the Mrs.

Never walked up a mountain before although I am physically fit.

Llanberis is the easiest but takes 5 hours, anyone done it before and think the Pyg Track is doable for a beginner?

Also any tips on what to bring? Likelihood of getting lost etc? Am I heck bringing a compass.

Climbed it with a school outing when I was about 14, group got fragmented and weather worsened, nearly a disaster on descent, Even now I remember it as a hard but enjoyable slog, important to stick together, enjoy it and report back;)

Check out the Rangers Path mate. Still easy enough but takes a few hours less than Llanberis and is a more interesting walk. You shouldn't get lost, just stick to the path.

Take a day sack with waterproofs, drinks, snacks and you'll be sound. Make sure you have proper walking boots on.

Cheers pal.

Bought some really good boots and got all the gear ready.

I think we will try one other than Llanberis which sounds too busy and takes too long.

Bring some matches, firewood, salt and pepper. Just in case you get lost, you don't want to be eating the Mrs raw and not seasoned.

We are not animals.

Pyg track is the one mate - and if your feeling brave carry on upto Crib Goch and walk the ridge. However if you plan to do the Pyg make sure you get to Llanberis pass car park really early as its usually full by about 8am
