have used a bike pump and needle valve to blast 1 out & headphone socket but if its micro usb then anything metal can cause it to short circuit so best using a toothpick than a needle

How do you folks do it? I clean it with an old toothbrush, it works but not sure if it is the way. some does it with a toothpick, some goes compressed air et cetera. what's your method?

by the way I am not that messy but it fills a lot of dust if I don't clean it for 3-4 months (hence obstructing the battery connectors). Maybe I should check it often.
Buy ( I used to 'borrow' nick one off the sparkies in work) a spray can of none residue electrical contact cleaner. Take it outside, turn the phone charger port to the floor give it a squirt up the hole, all the excess solvent and gunk will fall on the floor.
With the power disconnected, do the phone end of the charger cable, especially the android ones

sorry to be stupid but what does that mean mate "under load"
Don't just snatch it out while the charger is connected live to the mains.Switch off your socket first. The arcing when you pull it out can burn out the charging curcuit if you're unlucky, effects some models more than others.

Suck and blow. Suck and blow.
Do the same to the USB wire. Remember to unplug it though.

Or you'll be sucking and blowing with the angels above.

maybe you should clean your house more often to avoid the issue in the first place?

air line mate
Joking apart my sun buys small aerosols of jet air for cleaning anything PC telephone wise it blows all the crap out without damage look on e bay or Amazon......
I have Sen him update his computer and he strips it down takes the part out to replace and gives it all a blast to clean the crap away it's used in the trade ;)

Turn the power off first, it might 'arc' (cause a spark) which might burn the little contactors leading to a poor connection...only a guess but a reasonable one.
