Mark Clattenburg will not referee a Premier League match this weekend in the wake of his display in the Merseyside derby.

The Professional Game Match Board, who oversee referees and make appointments for top-flight games, confirmed that Clattenburg would not be involved in the latest round of fixtures.

Everton manager David Moyes was fiercely critical of the official's display at Goodison Park, where he awarded Liverpool two penalties and dismissed Tony Hibbert and Phil Neville.

Moyes was also unimpressed that Clattenburg only showed Dirk Kuyt a yellow card for a reckless two-footed lunge on Neville, and the Everton were denied a penalty in the closing seconds when Joleon Lescott appeared to be wrestled to the floor by Jamie Carragher.

Liverpool came from behind to win the match 2-1 with Kuyt converting both penalties after Sami Hyypia's own goal had given the home side the lead.
I didnt expect more, the FA suck and Clattenberg is a ********

Guys at least its a start- its more than I expected.

At the end of the day the [Poor language removed] know they were very lucky to have 12 players against our 11 then 10 then 9.

I have read virtually every report in the national papers and they all cast doubt on Shittenburgs decisions. Add to that there is no mistaking the anger of Moyes in his statement to the press. I bet the FA are almost tempted to consider charging Moyes with disrepute but dare not!!

Robert tbh they have to and I think that is what he wants. Paul Jewel did the same thing and got a tap on the wrist for it, this was 10 times worse(y)

they had to do something because of the styles action.

had they done nothing it would have been yet another piece of evidence that counts against them with regards their favouring the big earners.

sadly, its not actually referees at fault, it is the agenda handed to them by the powers above - so when something goes tits up like it did on saturday, the ref takes all the flack, is cut loose, and the agenda stays in place for another day.

Put it like this, if Moyes doesnt get fined for what he said, then we know the FA and the refs association all think that clattenburg is a cheating [Poor language removed] too.

perhaps moyes comments have been proved just, and that to sanction him when...

benitez has publicly accused lescott of diving
kuyt didnt get a red

jose got reprimanded for calling AJ a diver, lets see if the FA's golden boy gets the same.

To be honest this is as good as it will get. I think the FA have told clattenburg to lie low for a week until it all blows over and then he will be back before we know it. Sadly the record shows a 2-1 defeat and in a couple of weeks all but the blues will have forgotten the latest drama of the premier league.

Just how liverpool did not finish with nine men is beyond me though. Has there ever been a bigger bias in living memory?

that would be a quite funny turn out.

moyes orders entire squad not to shake hands with him at the beginning of the game during line up - and for no player to mention a single word to him.

see how the touchy feely attitude he has washes then.

i wouldnt condone a fan running on and butting him, but i would very much understand it.

There is no way on this planet that he'll ref that game. But if he does, watch Stubbs "accidentally" run into him.

I can't see him reffing us again this season. Even the RA are probably not that looney.
