Clarence Seedorf says he is to become the new AC Milan coach after announcing his retirement from playing.

The 37-year-old, who played for the Serie A giants from 2002 until 2012, will replace Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked as head coach on Monday after a poor start to the season.

Milan are currently 11th in the Italian top flight having won only five of the first 19 games this season.

Bizarre decision, perhaps only explainable by them looking at what Juventus did with Conte and trying to copy it somehow.

Always liked Seedorf, was very good when part of the BBC media team during Euro 2012. Well its not hard when next to the likes of Mark Lawrenson and Shearer though.

Can see him doing well. Very bright and articulate man.

Yeah, started at 16 at Ajax and then pretty much didn't miss a lot...

Ridiculous shot - it was still rising when it went in ffs!
You could tell the goalkeeper thought that was a diagonal ball into the box all day because of the way it swerved

Could be a very good move if they give him time to change the team. If they expect instant results then could end badly. But as mentioned this is a very smart and articulate man, speaks 5 languages fluently, and knows the game.
