City Break - Suggestions Please

Sorrento is beautiful mate. I'd suggest a week there if you want to do all the things it has to offer, but a long weekend would certainly suit too. You'd be able to do pompeii/vesuvius in a day comfortably, and Capri is great too. There's tons to do.

Thanks for all these suggestions lads - Will investigate further

Brussels is mega cheap to get to - Has anybody been there?

Yes I've spent 3 days in Brussels, and whilst its pretty good, it doesn't compare to Bruges or Amsterdam, which I went to on the same trip.

In Maelbeek (a Brussells district) there is Europes largest dinosaur collection though. Which, growing up loving dinosaurs, I never really tired of. It's boss.

Another vote for Berlin here.
Easy to get by even if you don't speak German, plenty of cheap accommodation, food/drink prices are cheap, everything runs with German efficiency, and lots of culture to suck up. I've never been disappointed by it.

Paris and Amsterdam are over-rated nowadays in my book. They used to be good but are now overpriced and watered-down cultural experiences.

Looking to go away with the missus for a long weekend next month and seeking inspiration

Any suggestions for a decent city break? Was originally thinking Rome but looks a bit pricey, Berlin looks most likely at the mo but would consider anywhere thats cheap when you get there and has plenty to see

Krakow is ridiculously cheap

Cost me £200 for accommodation for 4 nights and £80 for flights

Pint is about 0.53p
A steak meal was £8

The end

Budapest. Spotlessly clean, great food and drink....absolutely loads to do.

Ljubljana -awesome place.

Bilbao....see The Esks comments.

Helsinki...beautiful, but not so cheap.

Stockholm....see Helsinki.

If you go to Berlin, take her to this lovely steak restaurant called Berghain. Go in there on a sunday afternoon about 1pm and prepare to be blown away. Building looks a bit grotty like but trust me...

Thanks mate - Looking for somewhere with plenty of history, museums and places of interest to visit and nice chilled bars/restaurants

Gdansk mate, especially if WW2 interests you. Brilliant city and very cheap. My missus took me for my 30th last year and we both loved it.
