there was a time when i was ashamed to smuggle my snacks into the pictures. nowadays i would be too ashamed to queue up in the lobby and pay £8 for a watered down coke and a tub of four day old popcorn.

I do enjoy a trip to the cinema. It’s starting to feel like an outdated, retro experience now with the convenience of omnipresent entertainment. I just hope direct release to PPV home platforms don’t replace cinemas any time soon.

Eh smuggling, erm, yeah.

My dad used to make me carry in cans of Olympia Gold (cheap American beer) in my sock when he'd take us to the movies. Then he'd ask my brother to fake-sneeze so that he could pop the can open. Those were the days.

...I had no idea what this meant but after reading posts I presume you’re not allowed to take snacks into the Cinema any more. Didn’t know that, but not a fan of snacks anyway. 3 meals a day should suffice without rubbish like sweets and biscuits.

My missus expects a meal before or after, but still demands a tub of popcorn and a drink which you need a mortgage approval for.

My daughter (now 21) has still not recovered from the time my sister and her mates took her to the pictures. As soon as the lights went out the chink of smuggled in wine bottles drowned out the first few seconds of the movie. Huyton girls eh...

The little cinema in Woolton was one of the last to ban smoking and had a smoking section.

When a film like Terminator was on, it’d be full of North Face Ninja Wigs, filling the whole cinema with Skunk fumes.
