Except you could always choose NOT to smoke, and thereby no longer subject yourself to the "tax". Same goes for the "sausage roll tax" (which IIRC is only levied on goods actually heated in the shop and served hot) and the alcohol tax. Another way to describe them would be "strange tax", as in "you're strange if you pay an entirely voluntary tax and then complain that you're being deliberately targeted." - particularly if your income was low as you describe in your first paragraph.

Easy for me to say this i suppose, because I don't smoke and you'll never catch me in a branch of Greggs.

Not going to respond to your pint about "bedroom tax" because it's been done in other threads and quickly descends into political bickering. All I will say is it's NOT a tax, and it is a good policy.

Political diagreement? Lets leave it there then eh? lol

100 a day? Holy Christ, you'd have to be smoking literally every second of your waking life. I'm a smoker (20/day), and couldn't handle that.

I think they must be a lot cheaper here. £7.94 is something like $11, I think? I get mine for less than $4.

Indeed, if you're awake 16 hours day you'd have to smoke about 6 an hour, so 1 every 10 mins, which is literally chain smoking. I don't see how anyone could manage that to be honest.

is it wrong that i smoke only when im drinking and for no other reason than just cos i wanna.

Nah mate, best way to do it, used to do that myself, like a chimney Fri and Sat night didn't bother Mon to Fri in work , used to drive the addicts mad.
Was a good conversation starter as well

Don't you only get something like 16 in a Pub ciggie dispensing machine?

Yeah 19's a bit bizarre, but then too is the whole smoking thing when you think about it. Not that I don't still sneak a crafty one in myself from time to time - used to be slightly heavier, but would never have called myself a regular smoker, and wouldn't ever have considered myself addicted to ciggies.

80p to £ 1.50 a pack in Russia mate, Lucky strike and Marlborough are about £1.20, made it a lot harder to pack in I can tell ya now

About a pound for marlboro In manila and cheaper for the others.

In vietnam they think youre rich if you have a marlboro as they are most expensive there.
