you should find a food that the elks like and leave a trail of it back to your cabin or whatever

that way the elks will come to you

getting an elk back to my truck is the hardest thing I've ever done.

You have to butcher it in the field...its called quartering, though I take the majority of the bones out so that it weighs less...then, depending on size, you make 4-5 trips back and forth to camp.

at least thats how i have to do it. hang the meat in a cool spot in the shade and do your trips. This year necessitated 5 solo trips back and forth and they were over two ridges that both topped out above treeline...one way was 2 miles, but you had to climb the ridges there and back

anyway, I'd have driven down and hired a pack horse if that happened again. it almost killed me and took 2 full days.

Couldn't you just go to Walmart and get some mate?

Big loco,

Fortunate to live within earshot of Goodison. Took up archery as I have a muscle problem in shoulder which I am going to fight rather to give in to.

Not got an archery background, just wanted to if you excuse the pun stretch the shoulders as a build up exercise.

As you are reading, any good sites for purchasing compound bows from USA, know its not cheap to deliver but mega expensive here.

I'm coming home for Chrimbo and am looking forward to hopefully a couple of tickets to see the blue boys, perhaps even a ticket for the missus as well who will be joining me for her first taste of it

Good for you, both in living near goodison and wanting to shoot. There is something very zen like in shooting archery and I find it relaxing.

I have no ideas on tariffs/legality, but Cabelas.com would be a good place to start. Again, make sure its all legal. When I lived in England, I just assumed everything short of a plastic picnic knife were forbidden, so I brought nothing with me. :)

The other sport that really works shoulders (that I partake in) is rowing/paddling. I whitewater kayak--I think you call it canoeing there? Anyway, it strengthens shoulders like nothing else...good luck!
