Acorns.

It's a kids hospice charity in the Midlands. My 9yr old has given up her Christmas presents to do a justgiving page for it.

Bought some presents for the Cash for Kids Christmas appeal. Gifts go to kids in care etc that otherwise wouldn't get any presents.

I try to buy food for homeless people whenever I see them around this time. Only done two so far. Spar shop for a lady and bought a fella a maccies in Manchester on Saturday. Better than giving them money and I hate to see people homeless in the cold. One of my pet hates.

gotta say I'm a little surprised by the amount of homeless people who seem to appear on the streets around this time.

especially in a country where there are certain benefits available that should mean nobody really should have to be homeless.

on topic though, CLIC Sergeant is a great charity for anyone interested.

A little like Nik I brought lunch for a lad selling the Big Issue yesterday, brought him a jumper in the sales as well.

Not much really. I try to do something all year round even if it's just a cup of tea and a chat.

We really should have a GOT nominated Charity next season.

Raffle off EFC stuff etc

Good idea. I was talking to a chap in Windsor recently about sponsoring a Guide dog for the blind. Guide dogs are highly trained working animals but they don’t come cheap. During its lifetime a guide dog for the blind will cost about £35,000. I didn't think the cost of a guide dog was cheep, but I wouldn't have guessed it would be that much. If you are looking for suggestions for a good cause this would be my choice.

I've withdrawn my regular donation for Save the Children after the Panorama scandal, so looking out for local charities. Interesting thread.

I'd say something that perhaps doesn't get as much attention as everything else. Things like cancer etc will never receive enough money, but there is a lot of focus on it already. I like the idea of the guide dog charity as mentioned above. Maybe there are a few blind evertonians that need help?
