Oven Chips just don't do it for me although it has to be said that Aunt Bessie plays a blinder in the Frozen Potato Produce Dept.
I'd have the proper deal with Lard in if it was completely up to me, or at least a deep fat frier with lard in, our last Deep Fat Fryer came to an unfortunate end as the Mrs put it on the Hob to take advantage of the Extractor Hood, pity she didn't think to check if the hob had been used recently as it was red hot and melted the arse out of it.


Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyhow, I've had enough of the Oven Chips atm & she's been eyeing up 1 of these new fangled jobbies that only take a teaspoon of oil, but ffs have you seen the price !! I could build a garage & put a full Range out of a chippy in ffs.

So, we all like chips but what have you got ?

If in any doubt about safety whilst in use, this and option C. If your household doesn't dig the filters, fabricate a sheet to go on the top of the hob so you can safely use it under the extractor mate.

Not that keen on chips but there's a place in Devon called the frying scotsman, their chips have a thin coating of batter round them and they are amazing.

I've had many electric deep dryers. But no chips I make have ever tasted like the ones me mam made in a pan like the one in the OP.

They were fried in lard, too
