If any of you have seen the chip map of the UK, it has the following regions preferences for how to serve chips or potato based thingies as follows (from north to south):

Which of these is the best? Do you have any serving suggestions yourself? Any weird combinations?

Aberdeen: Chips with Doner meat
Edinburgh: Spicy seasoned curly fries
Glasgow: Battered chips
Leeds: Chips with Chinese BBQ sauce
Hull: Potato patties (hash browns?)
Blackpool: Chips with salad cream
Sheffield: Chips with Mushy Peas
Manchester: Chips with Gravy
Liverpool: Everton: Chip Butty with Ketchup
Stoke: Chips with Cheese and Bacon
Nottingham: Chips with "pea wet" (the drainings from a tin of processed peas!)
Leicester: Chips with egg and cheese
Cardiff: Cheesy chips
Bristol: Chips with ketchup
London: Long, thin chips with salt
Brighton/Southampton: Chips with salt and vinegar
Bournemouth: Long, thin chips with garlic mayo (alioli)
Exeter: Wedges with spicy seasoning

My favourite is Stoke's chips with Bournemouth's garlic mayo dip

Another good variant is that stuff they have in Canada... Poutine, which is cheese curds and gravy on chips, but as I can't stand gravy on chips I'd swap it for Black Pudding.

In Edinburgh the don't ask if you want salt and vinager. They ask if you want salt and sauce. The sauce being brown sauce.

Easy to not being paying attention and get your chips covered in brown sauce.

Frying Scotsman in Devon do the most spectacular chips, they have a crunchy layer of batter round them, best chips I've ever tasted.

I only ever rely have chipsat the end of a night out and it's Chips Cheese & Mayo from the kebab shop, luuuuurvly
