I can't take that article seriously for several reasons

1 - the amount of scrolling to read the article

1.4 billion people - someone's got to take the reins. 200 million cameras hardly covers every nook and cranny of China, mind - think you'd need an order of magnitude more [plus China is pretty safe and non-violent anyhow].

I've been to China quite a bit and it's hard to appreciate just how ingrained the power of the communist party is - heard very well educated people come out with some crazy stuff that would sound almost cultish in a Western context. But the CP has presided over the greatest improvement of standard of living, for the most people, in the shortest amount of time, in world history.
