Poor kid.

I remember getting it when I was little. I was lucky though; it wasn't too bad and went fairly quickly.

My friend never got it as a kid and got measles a few years back. That seems just awful. Hopefully your little girl will get through it asap and not have to deal with it again. Good luck Sharpy, mate.

So sorry to hear about your daughter. I went through a similar situation a couple years ago, but it was posion ivy that wouldn't go away for 3 some odd months. I did all the research I could on it, tried all this stuff but in the end I just had to wait it out. Something strange that provided some relief, but I am not sure it was good for it overall, was blowing hot air via a hair dryer on the posion ivy. I know they are different things but hey if your desperate it might be worth a shot.

This has been some of the hardest days of my life. Torture watching her in so much pain. Doing my ****ing head in.....

So sorry for the poor thing and you

Ibuprofen (your Nurofen) has a bit better data (than acetaminophen) for lowering fever and keeping it down longer in kids. Make sure you actually write down when doses are given.... I've seen accidental overdoses in such situations when parents are so upset....way too easy to give too much in a 24 hour period without realizing it especially if more than one person is giving meds.

Antihistamines will ease the itch. I'd suggest Benadryl (diphenhydramine is the generic name... not sure of the 'English' translation). Can also help her get some rest.

Best wishes for a quick recovery

My four kids had it one after the other (bloody nightmare) on the run up to the eldest lads communion. Little lady got it worse than the three boys together. more red spots on her than skin. she still has the scabs as it was about three weeks ago they started to depart. We brought a magic marker to the party after and played join the dots, cheap entertainment.

Nothing solves it but time about 7 days should see her right.

Porridge oats in a sock mate, works a treat. Stick it under the tap whilst you run the bath so the water goes all cloudy. Soak in it for bout 10-15mins then rinse it off when she gets out.

Agreed mate, iv got a sheet next to the med's with what iv given an when..

I have to tell you i have a new found respect for it. And families that go through it.

TBH i always though it was just somthing that all kids got. They get a few spots and are itchy as hell. How wrong was i. My little Angel came out in spots 2 days ago an since then it's been a living hell. She's in so much pain it's unreal, an typically. She has it severely. It's like a blanket all over her. We had to take her the hospital late last night as she was uncontrollable.

We've done everything that we know.....

All teh lotions an potions. All teh Paracetamol am Nurofen. But nothing has really worked. We had to cancel our family 4 day break this weekend as well. So im gutted for her. She was looking forward to it so much.

Thing is iv been up all night scowering the internet for any solutions and came across a thing called POXCLIN.

www.poxclin.com

Iv never heard of it before but has some great reviews. has anyone used it or any different ideas i can use....

Thanx as always fam!!!

Its awesome, they sell it in the 99p shop and its amazing!! Also give her piriton to stop the itch, worked a treat for my little fella, if its any consolation she's through the worse and will pick up soon x

I know this is probably moot right now, but don't give ibuprofen on an empty stomach....it will eat away at the stomach lining, and cause heartburn. Give it with food or a glass of milk.
