The visual representation of what Acute Radiation Sickness does is horrifying, especially as it actually happened.

There's been some fantastic shows on recently with this, Line of Duty and The Virtues.

Awful when that guy got ordered to look into the reactor.

As bad as it sounds, I kind of wanted to see that Askimov's face when he was in hospital/ Surely couldn't be worse than the black and blue firefighter.

It wouldn`t surprise me if it ends up being used as a teaching aid by the nuclear industry at some point.

Some unbelievably brave people. Went into danger areas knowing they wouldn't survive. I think one example was the helicopter crew who were dumping stuff on the reactors in an attempt to seal them. Don't think any of the crew survived.

The creator said he did want to show it on purpose as it could make the series too gratuitous, seeing we already have seen the effects of radiation on the fireman and Toptunov. Although he himself admits by Emily Watson's character saying he had no face it might mean it could be more frightening, as some people's imagination can make it worse than actually seeing it on screen.

Yeah good point and I read that he said it was too gory, saying it was worse than the fireman is some statement like.
