I suspect he never realised how much he was in for when he acquired Chelsea, but there were also wider and probably more important to him, geo-political and security issues which the Chelsea acquisition resolved.

On an EBITDA basis Chelsea ought to have become positive in 2016/17 based on the new shirt sponsor deal and the rise in tv broadcasting revenues. However the lack of CL will cost them around £35-40 million in lost revenues next year so that will be reduced.

And here is me sweating on getting my pension into my own hands next week!

In fainess, if you use EBITDA very few clubs would consistently make a loss - even us.

Call me stupid. Buy why? Like, he is never ever going to get a return on that is he? Or maybe he thinks he will I guess. Or its all sewed up in his wider business/tax affairs.

£1.5 Billion on a football vanity project seems nuts to me.
I suppose if you are as rich as he is, it is like a mere mortal buying a season ticket. Even selling oil and gas cheap, he is still printing money.

Last time I looked he was worth 8 billion quid, so 1.5 isn't really a lot to spend on your hobby. I'd spend it on Everton with a big grin on my face.

I didn't see the game, is it true we played 3-4-3 in the second half?

I can't answer about Chelsea, but Roberto's formations are always fluid. And people say he has no Plan B!

Since his comeback, Baines has generally been playing level with midfield, then dropping back to defend. And Cleverley has been asked to do a lot of covering in defence too.

If Coleman and Oviedo are both out, Roberto could be tempted to play Jagielka, Mori and Stones, with Baines and, say, Lennon as wing backs. Besic and Barry would play in midfield, plus one of Cleverley, Osman, Pienaar and even Gibson. Lukaku up-front with Kone, Mirallas or Deulofeu.

It's Swansea on Sunday and City on Wednesday. I think Roberto may rest some players on Sunday, or take them off early if we are ahead. He may even have a rehearsal for the City match.

The City game is a one-off - I'd love to be down on the training ground. Roberto is generally positive, but a repeat of the 0-0 draw would be enough for us to go through. However, it's dangerous to try to contain City for 90 minutes. But Hart's distribution is erratic - he seems to make a mistake every game.
