I'm OK with the cheese on toast and that, but I'll give up my considerable virtue for a proper grilled cheese sandwich. Best with good homemade bread and some American cheese that has all those industrial melted solvents added for extra deliciousness, at that. Two slices in the middle. Make sure the butter is evenly spread and don't get the pan too hot. Some Colman's spread on the inside of the bread is a nice surprise as well. Let it rest a bit before you whack it into halves before you shove in your gob. Quarters if you have a nice big loaf of bread.
