Reports from China are saying Tiote, formerly of Newcastle has died in hospital following a heart attack.

Former Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote is said to have been rushed to hospital following a training session.

And Chinese news outlet Sina claim the player has died.

Tiote joined Chinese Super League side Beijing Enterprises in February.

The Ivorian retired from international football in 2015.

Rumours circulating on Twitter suggested the player has passed away.
 


The former Newcastle United player Cheick Tioté has died.

Tioté collapsed during a training session with the Chinese League One side Beijing Enterprises. He was subsequently rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cheick Tiote's agent Emanuele Palladino confirmed the death of his client and asked that the privacy of the player’s family was respected at this time.
