The country in who's occupied provinces you squat likewise conforms to that definition of third world.
The definition I was using was based on Gross National Income, what definition were you using.
The Republic amended Articles 2 and 3 of their constitution by the introduction of Article 19 to allow self determination of the people of Northern Ireland. Hardly squatting, but I take your point.
A point of information, Northern Ireland does not occupy provinces, it is made up of six of the nine counties of Ulster, those being Antrim, Down, Armagh, Tyrone, Fermanagh and Derry/ Londonderry. The three remaining counties being Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan.
Every day is a school day.

Third world just means neutral in the cold war doesn't it?

The republic had no formal alliance with either superpower and so is third world.

I think if you are aligned with western Europe you are first world, it is wider than just America or Russia.
Besides the term has now come to mean something more to do with economics.
I'm getting bored with this thread, Lineaker dived, twice.

Mounts, me old mate, just thought I would clear up the spelling, English spell it Lineker meaning "son of the linesman" probably the reason why the linesman in the game didn't flag him for cheating, nepotism I think.
I, being a Celt, use the Gaelic, Lineaker, meaning "he who falls down (twice) when getting soundly beaten by a fairly non-descript African country".

Wonderful player Lineker, he was the first player I ever noticed us selling, I was utterly baffled, why was he going to Spain? Who the hell are this team hes leaving us for? Everton that.
