Interesting information on the well known Liverpool family, which included Noel Chavasse,one of only three twice time winners of the Victoria Cross.

Lad I aint even got a clue where Oxford is, anything south of Birmingham is shandy drinking cockney land as far as I know.

Closely associated then :

Noel Chavasse - Studied at Liverpool College and University and enlisted with the Liverpool Scottish.
Also, other members of his family lived,studied and worked in Liverpool, and also served with Liverpool regiments.

Indeed. However, he was educated at Liverpool College and spent large parts of his life in the city (late teens and adult life).

He was employed by South Liverpool General Hospital and served in the King's Regiment (Liverpool) in the 10th Battalion, or the Liverpool Scots.

Add to the fact that his father was the Bishop of the city. While he may not have been born in our city, he's certainly one of ours.

Personally, I see it is a deep shame that we do not honour him more, while we glamorise other native souls who are mere dross.

By the way, it was note that his brother Christopher should have also been awarded the VC, but they couldn't give a third award to the family.
