investor - 'where is everton?'
wyness - 'in liverpool'
investor - 'oh, liverpool, ive heard of them'

game over.

all the...

'we were the first club in the city'

...stuff means absolutley [Poor language removed] all to money-men, all they see is taking on a brand named after our city.

where did the beatles come from? liverpool

that counts the japanese market out then.

red is the only colour in china (red is lucky in their culture)

You got it all wrong suits, Charlton are in London and therefore where all the money is easy to get investment.

Everton just 5 years ago were relegation strugglers, the dogs of war, not nice to watch.
You watch now that we will be in Europe (again) where the money is, the money hounds will come sniffing and its up to the management of Everton to not get bitten.

P.S. The Japanese and Chinese and Korean markets are easy to tap, and it has nothing to do with the beatles or wearing red.
The one thing you have to do is buy a Japanese, chinese or Korean player and this GURANTEES you to be on TV most of the time in these countries.

Bolton used to be the most popular club in Japan, now its Celtic.

Don't believe everything you see on telly suits.

that'll be the nakamura connection?

as for our endeavours in the orient, didnt we try to establish ourselves there with li tie and li weifeng? oh and the kejian sponsor?

business is the same everywhere, look at city getting sounded out for a take over, their cost and subsequent investment will be paltry compared to their local rivals - why? - because their (man ure) brand and success is established.

thinking about take overs, why the sudden clamour to get hold of a premiership club? it has to be due to the new TV deal - but that in itself cant be the only reason, it has to be due to the earning possibility. no one is in the game to lose money (chelsea in it to clean money) so any new owner/consortium would be looking to skim off some of the profits, should as much of the money stay in football - specifically the clubs - as possible? of course it should. Investment is a double edged sword, it might mean some funds to throw at players to begin with, but what happens from there.

I wouldn't say we "tried to establish" ourselves but what I know from that Kejian deal is that all of China watched every Everton game li tie ever played (billions of people!!) and also I noticed quite a few photos of him up in Chinese restaurants wearing an Everton shirt.

So IMO it was a double positive, we got a sponsor, one good player (cos yes li tie was good when he played) for a while and we raised our profile for a while in China. (but all that is long forgotten now).
