So we have tended to have 'moments' during our many years of slow starting. The most obvious which springs to mind is the Phil Neville Tackle on Ronaldo a few moons ago.

What do you think did it this season?

The signing of Pienaar? Perhaps our most effective midfield player?

Jelavic arrival? For obvious reasons?

The bargain deal of Gibson? Adds steal but also has a fantastic range of passing, and of course brings that innate Utd Mentality of winning at any costs.

What about the short but successful signing of Donovan? Personally hes one of my fave players for blues.

Hibbert being restored to the starting line up? Just because he scores when he wants?

What about the lung-busting displays by the Straq which got us all on our feet (Vs Man City springs to mind)?

What do you gentlemen think?

The Man City game, without question.

As opposed to 6 months of Saha, Stracq getting EVERYONE up for it up front, Heitinga playing the game of his life, Jelavic at Half time, Gibbo's screamer, returning home to find out we'd landed Pienaar.

That was definitely it.

End of September through to mid-December was the slump.

We actually recovered in the two months prior to Jelavic's debut. We lost only twice between mid-December and his debut as sub in the Wigan game at the beigining of February.

He just added a cutting edge to the recovery.

Dare I say it when Vic scored at The Hawthornes against WBA on New Year's Day. I think that was the win that started our move back into the top half.

January transfer window.

I think normally, we have our slow start then obviously pick up after xmas, but we do it with the same team, so it's obviously because of some pyschological thing.

I think that this year, before we made the signings we did, we were genuinely not good enough to finish top half of the table. So our annual second half revival was slightly different this year...hopefully it means we'll FINALLY start well.

Donovan, before him we had no outlet to score whatsoever, the man came along and became a single handed assist machine. Put the belief back into the squad.
