European cup was league champions from every country in Uefa, all names put in the hat and 2 legged knock-out straight off.
No seeding, no groups, no runners-up, no qualifying rounds and all games were played on a Wednesday

The only thing you missed out from that was the RS getting to the final every year, which is what I remember of it growing up
