Our first choice 2 beat theirs easily. But they have better strength in depth.

Liverpool are masters when it comes to spending lots and receiving little.

skyrtl is a nob but a defender that does his job well enough and can score from set peices.

Sahko french international defender.

Lovren we would have loved at the club last summer (not for the price though)

Toure- experienced but not as good as he was 6 years ago.

Jags- Good last ditch defender. Cant lead the line as such but can form great partnerships

Stones- Getting experience but learning his trade so prone to odd mistake

Distin- Not a premier ship footballer anymore, which is a shame

Alcaraz- One of the most disliked players for a good while. and not very good.

Straight on straight comparison i would say them lot have the better defenders but in the likes of stones / galloway / browning / garbutt / coleman i think we have a very good defence in waiting to come through.

We have better starters in Jags-Stones. Unfortunately this does not make me feel better given our current situtation.

I actually think Skertel is a bit underrated. He has his LOL moments but he's a real threat on set pieces.

I think Emre Can is a class act however it's debatable whether he's even a centre back. Skertel has also had a very good season.

Stones as we know is a class act and will hopefully develop into one of the very best although I'm not sure I would already say that he's there which given his age is understandable. Jags is now 32 so we'll probably get another one possibly two more seasons out of him however I don't think he's been as consistently good as past seasons. On most days he's still amazing but mistakes have started to creep into his game.

Let's be honest. Both teams have weaknesses in that department.

I'd have to say Liverpool's. Stamptel and Sakho are good players with the latter only going to improve, Toure is a decent stand-in and not bad business on a free.

As for Everton's: Jagielka looks past his best and I never rated him that highly, Alcaraz is a disaster and Distin is about 56. Stones is class and quite the leaving present from Moyes.

...think we have the stronger first choice pairing. I also like young Galloway and think he's got a chance of leapfrogging a couple of those in the next 18 months.
They paid big bucks for Sakho and Lovren but both have looked poor value for money, saying that I thought Sakho was the pool's best player against United.
