Gender has always been asked on the census. The rest are not mandatory questions, so you have a choice to ignore them if you so wish.I've taken to not answering questions on gender or race on any forms on the basis that such is the start of positive or negative discrimination - both of which are wrong. Furthermore they should be irrelevance.
