Does anyone still actually use these ? I sorted out some old boxes of stuff the other day and binned loads of cd’s and dvd’s as I just don’t use them anymore. Seemed to have a very short lifespan really.

blueray had an even shorter lifespan. technology moved on quick and a lot of people who adore vinyl enjoy its resurgence.

40+ years for CD's is not particularly short? DVD's didn’t last long though before being replaced by higher quality media.

I'm keeping them as when the Internet drops after the nuclear war I'll still have something to listen to/watch. :hayee:

Took a heap (reckon around 5-600) to the tip about 2 years ago. Every CD I owned gone and only dvds I kept was my boxing collection as I just couldn't part with it, spent about 15 years collecting as many fights as I could find.

Edit: was actually probably a lot more than 5 or 600 now come to think of it.

The 1 or 2 people who would burn cd's and playstation games that I went to school with were like celebrities lol
I mostly stuck to selling to friends or people i knew well and trusted. Apart from christmass when i sent a few mates out round the doors to make us all some money.

Did used to get tortured for shows that aired in the USA well before they were shown here. I think Prison Break used to be on here 6 months later so everyone wanted the DVD's for that each week when episodes came out. And the patches for PES with the real kits and stuff.

I believe CDs are your own license to listen to that music that you've purchased at some point; streaming is completely different as you never own your copy of the song or album.

I'm not sure if DVDs work the same way.

Still remember that Syphon Filter playstation game was the first burnt game I ever had. I was terrible at it so saved me a few quid thankfully
