Carl Froch v George Groves rematch

Well Froch is older than Kessler so not sure where this "prime" argument comes in to play. If you look at Kessler's record prior to Calzaghe it's not that impressive. There's an argument that Kessler's most comprehensive defeat came against Froch...who was, obviously, still oder than Kessler.

Even back then Froch would've been a big money fight, Calzaghe ducked him plain and simple. His "I wish I could have fought him" comment was particularly jarring because you COULD have fought him you donut.

The prime argument comes into play as when Kessler fought Froch he was past his best... IMO....... Calzaghe didn't need to fight Froch.....why would he ? He was nearing the end of his career and Froch was younger and hungrier.... It made no sense to fight him.

Tyson v lewis springs to mind, joe by comfortable ud

Calzaghe would have beat Froch I reckon. Froch would have more chance of knocking him out than vice versa, but I reckon Calzaghe would take a decision win 7/10.

Calzaghe would have massacred Froch, and I'm a big Froch fan. The difference between the two is a bit obvious really.

It would have been a 12 round points win by about seven rounds. At the time Froch wasn't the fighter he is today, but even if you took prime Froch vs. prime Calzaghe there's only one real outcome there.

Everybody must remember also how Joe made an exhibition of jeff lacy with only one hand...... Ok lacy wasn't half the fighter the hype made him out to be but Calzaghe ave an absolute master class on boxing that night.

Not only that, what Taylor did to Froch for the first 8 rounds is indicative of the way it would go - a man with much less speed and technique than Calzaghe.

You can't call the results of imaginary fights......

Froch was spot on in his post fight comments, when he said "1 punch can win a fight". You can be the best technical fighter around, but a shot like the one that Froch produced on Saturday night, puts you on your arse.

Without that punch in the 8th, we'll never know how that fight would have finished. I had Froch up 2 rounds, but plenty of others had it the other way round, that's the beauty of boxing (and the frustration) as how we view it depends on our subjective opinion and the scoring isn't an exact science.

Froch proved what a warrior he is yet again for me, as he did get tagged with some very good shots, but he never looked like being taken out, as his conditioning was absolutely superb, he'd worked extremely hard in the gym to turn out like he looked. Love him or loathe him, you have to admire his professionalism and the way he lives like a genuine athlete.

I see Froch doesn't want to fight Degale due to the potential Vegas fight with Chavez. Completely fair enough considering that win over Groves, he deserves it.

However, IMO Degale is all wrong for Froch. He's an awkward, tricky switch-hitter, with more power and talent than he gets credit for. I can still see Froch winning it, but nowhere near as comfortably as he beat Groves.

Think this was the match that has gotten me into boxing a little. Wanted it in a pub on my mates stag do, and won the sweepstake. Great fight too though, regardless of the perks.
