Carer abuse.

Unfortunately this happens a lot and some of the dodgier care companies will still take him without a DBS/make one up for another job. You’d only have to look in your grandads care folder to find out the blokes name and who he works for and if it goes to court you can find out pretty much all of his information from there..

As others have said get someone to pay him a visit.

So sorry about your Grandad. Make sure the employer or local authority refer the carer to DBS in Darlington which is the Barring side of Disclosures and Barring. Wont help your Grandad but they can ensure that he is never allowed to work with vulnerable adults again.
If he's charged and found guilty, most DBS checks should be disclosing this anyway as the police will disclose any spent or unspent convictions or cautions.

If he's found not guilty but is initially charged, there is a strong chance that the police may feel it's suitable to disclose this depending on the job in question.

Unfortunately, there's a tiered approach to DBS checks and some institutions choose only the lower-tier (basic) checks for cost reasons.

So ive just found out the rat who is paid to look after my 88 year old grandad is giving him a slap.

Hes getting charged by the police and sacked but hes only gonna get a 6 month suspended at most, really wanna find out who he is so, you know where this should end up. But it wont, he'll get off scot free.slap on the wrist from a weak system.

Fuming isnt the word
Make sure the scumbags face is all over social media after the court case so he never gets a job. More importantly spend more time with your grandad and get his confidence back. At times like this 'an eye for an eye' has a lot of appeal.

If somebody has been sacked from regulated activity i.e working with vulnerable adults or children - regardless of any convictions, the employer should make a referral to DBS Barring ( formerly the Independent Safeguarding Authority) who can prevent that person from ever working in that field again. It also makes it a criminal offence for that person to seek work or work with adults and/or children if they are barred. That's my job. It's where I work. Everybody knows about the Disclosure side but the wider public don't know about the Barring side.
