Car Stuff

As you may or may not know I've been driving for about 6 months now, and it's time to do my tax again...now this is where I need help.

Somehow in my recent move, I've lost my Log Book (Registration Certificate) thing.

Now the things, I didn't know I needed to change anything on the Log Book so that's still got my old address on it.

How the hell do I do my tax now?!

I'm badly confused.

Do it on line mate just looking on another forum (car one) and it seems you dont need it to get a new tax disk

Have they sent you a tax reminder in the post?

Contact the DVLA would be my guess.

Be prepared to be messed around and have to deal with people who seem wilfully unhelpful. They suck.

All terrific advice, but this is where it gets annoying and confusing.

I may well have been sent a reminder, but as it was at my old address it's probably there.

Any ideas?

Don't try and do it online if you don't have the form then bro. I tried that as I was moving between houses, its a trip to the DVLA dude

just burn the car and say documents where inside. Might seem a bit drastic but it's easier than dealing with the halfwits at the DVLA

FFS!!

Obviously there isn't one in Southampton so I have to go to Portsmouth.

Ah well, might get some time off work for it....maybe.

Part of me hates having a car.

Yeah man, wait til they start breaking down. My car hit the garage 5 times last year.

Give the DVLA a call, or visit the post office or something. You may be able to get a new document before going all the way there

Well you need a new log book cause of changing address. Need to speak to the DVLA for that i guess.

I think you can tax a car without a reminder, you need to fill in a specific form at the post office i think.

DVLA website mate. If you've lost your log book, or MOT certificate, it's all there on what to do step by step. Had to do it for the missus a while back.

Good luck mate.
