Car Insurance

There was something on the Radio today (Radio 4 I think) with a piece on the number of fake insurance sites out there, offering car insurance at significant discounts, so best be on your guard too.
There was a scam back in around 2008 where 'agents' would act as a middleman and get you a cheap deal from a reputable broker such as Adrian Flux.

You had to pay up front to get the cheapest deal, but you'd get a certificate and all the paperwork which was legit. On the face of it, the deal looked brilliant.

The problem was that the middleman would get a refund for the policy within a matter of hours, so people would drink around without insurance.

Fortunately, the MID would cover the insurance to stop people getting six points and a fine. The best thing to do is always check with the MID.

Literally sorting mine out now.

A lot cheaper to renew 21-23 days before renewal but looks like prices will be going up from 1st Jan 2022
Of course they will. Cause why wouldn't they? Everything else is.
To be fair it is expected. The spiralling cost of used cars, the difficulty in getting parts into the country etc will push claim costs higher.
I remember my car was in the garage for 12 weeks in the summer, for a simple job. One that would normally take a around 10days or less. Inflation, lack of haulage drivers, some virus. All mounts up. Somebody got to pay.

Ive recently been told if you do it about 6 weeks before your run out its also a lot cheaper, closer your renewal date gets it goes up apparently?
You can't get a quote that stays valid for 6 weeks.. quotes are only valid for 28 days.. (in Ireland) not sure about elsewhere.
