Anyone else noticed car insurance prices have crashed?

I was looking at quotes for a new car and the prices were £250! I checked my current vehicle of which I am currently paying £600 and the same thing.. £250 quotes.. Even with the same insurer I have now!

I'd advise everyone to go online and get some quotes. I'm going to take out a new policy this weekend for sure!

It's mainly because of the tightening up on claims for whiplash .....

Same here in the US. Cars are being valued higher (both new and used) in terms of resale value, tax assessment, etc., yet somehow insurance rates rates are being lowered.

I always telephone around for good insurance - you do realise the good companies use the same underwriter .... Two remain I think the last time I checked ....

Last year, I got a best quote of £460, this year after a bit of shopping around, I got £300. The bonus was, it was a Liverpool outfit! One other reason for rates improving is considerably lower mileage due to lockdown's and working from home.

There was something on the Radio today (Radio 4 I think) with a piece on the number of fake insurance sites out there, offering car insurance at significant discounts, so best be on your guard too.

Literally sorting mine out now.

A lot cheaper to renew 21-23 days before renewal but looks like prices will be going up from 1st Jan 2022
