How long are you going for mate, you're best just forgetting the excess and paying the extra insurance but don't do it here, do it when you collect.

Try to get the smallest car you can also, the charges are cheaper than as well.

I've had a car on hire for 4 months now but I have to keep updating it every 28 days and this month it's a lot more expensive.

doyouspain is the cheapest for car hire. they are all the same for excess charges.

Book and pay in advance with Rentalcars.com. I always use them...You choose your car, and you pay your money and insurance to them. I usually opt for Thrifty cars. Make sure get and pay for CDW and theft protection upfront and always choose a Fuel full-to-full option.

I booked via them and had to pay the bag of sand deposit on collection, or pay additional fees for their CDW.

It makes sense to take out CDW with them. I'll explain why...You normally pay a security deposit to the agent at the airport when you pick up your hire car, this is normally done by the agent taking a note of your credit card details. If you are in an accident or damage your vehicle in anyway the local hire-car company will absolutely fleece you for repairs - This way Rentalcars cover will re-imburse you any costs incurred on your credit card usually without a problem. And it spares you the pain of traing to resolve the issue with countless long-distance phonecalls to foreign airport hire-car agents who soon realize that they cannot speaka your lingo.

I'm only going for 10 days at the end of august. so how much would the extra insurance be?

About 60 euros depending on what car you get. That would be a focus or something like that. It would be cheaper for a fiesta or similar.

Car hire with do you Spain for 10 days then would only be about £50 meaning it would cost you £100 all in for the car & insurance. You don't have to pay any excess at all then.

You can literally write the thing off, leave it wherever you want & go home, they won't take a penny more off you.

You still have to put the hold on your card at the airport. It just means if they fleece you, you can claim it back off rentalcars if you pay them for there insurance.

Doyouspain are absolute crooks who tempt you in with ludicrously low prices then slam you with 'local charges' that bring it on par or more than the well known providers. Avoid.

Oh yeah, and whatever you do, if they need a credit card to secure it, don't forget to take it. Got doubly slammed as I had to take their insurance as well, despite already having paid £££s for a separate excess insurance policy.

Would've been cheaper to just buy a car and burn it at the end of the holiday.

Correct - Have you ever tried to deal with a hire-car company who have fleeced you for vehicle repairs? They just take a massive wad for seemingly small and petty damages.

If you want to go cheap don't take out CDW but prepare to be dry-bummed if you damage your vehicle in any way.

If you book with doyouspain it tells you what the CDW insurance will be on your booking and it will tell you what the excess will be if you take that option. You decide what you're having when you collect.

doyouspain are that cheap, that even paying the insurance works out considerably more chapter than most companies.

Just make a booking with them, you don't have to pay when you book, you don't have to put credit card charges in when you book, you don't even have to turn up, there's been loads of times I haven't turned up. As I said, all the charges are on the booking so you've got absolutely nothing to lose by making a booking with them even if you choose to look elsewhere although doyouspain will not be beaten by anyone, I know that for certain.

I hire cars for 6 months of the year in Spain for the last 10 years, they're the cheapest, although like all hire companies they are a pain the in the arse.

They' all do me head in MN.

Have a look at the fuel options, they charge you about 30 euros refuelling charge so even though you get your fuel back, you don't get that 1 off charge back.

Ask your insurance here if they'll give you cover for a car over there, they'll cover your car if you were to drive over although only 3rd party unless you pay a small premium (many think their cover is the same as here).

Once bitten and all that. I'll never use doyouspain again.
