Car hire in Europe

I am looking to hire a car in Lyon and dropping it off in Rome a couple of weeks later. Does anyone know any decent car hire places or any to avoid?

Get full insurance or your card will get hit with 'Repair' bills a couple of months later for a tiny scratch or something. Some of the deals through airlines are quite good, but check reviews and again the full insurance is a must, i've heard of too many that get billed after returning home and no way of doing anything about it.
