I thought oh not bad for just pulling to one side at the rear bound to be a leaking cylinder - nothing wrong My friend cleaned them put new wheel cylinders on adjusted them accordingly give the a good brush etc etc only at the last resort did he look at the compensating valves swapped them over and bingo - no mechanic even the MOT tester had know this part to go ever on a saloon car ... so if your car ever does pull to one side in an MOT dont ever think its an easy fix - yes he even tried sawdust..........
two valves for my 1988 MK 3 astra had to come from Germany £79 +£8 P&P the dealer wanted £240 + vat + 8.00 P&P the size of a bullet a sealed unit...
if you look on e bay or Google they are hard to find my car model had 6 different types.........

Ah fond memories, not, of replacing brake shoes many , many years ago. Pushing hard on the washer/ spring to get it in place and it frequently pinging off at great speed past my ear!

Yes same here, I once bought a mini that had better back brakes than front, after I crashed it into a post (less said about that the better) I had the pleasure off sorting out the four sets of drums, it's like a precision puzzle that is spring loaded with your face about 5 inches from the danger zone.

one on ebay for a vauxhall corsa- no good to me as mine is an astra at the time £27.95 it looks 2nd hand too......
