Car advice

Update... done the wheel balancing but mechanic has noticed both front spring coils are knackered. They need changing but he can't say if that's the issue until the work is done haha. Should of traded the thing in now.

Hopefully there is a few car lovers or mechanics in here. Maybe both if I'm lucky.

Got an issue with my motor(focus) when driving over 60mph on the motorway. Once I get to that speed and go over that speed the car begins to vibrate quite intensely(not arrousingly). Quite bad on the steering wheel but can feel it in the pedals and in the seats now.

I took it to a local garage and the guy took my two front tyres off and replaced them. Said they were bald in certain parts and will be creating the issue. Been on the motorway a few times since and keep having the same issue.

Any thoughts on what it can be? Someone in work mentioned wheel balancing??

Thanks in advance.
Check the wheel nuts are tight (even if they have recently been done up at a garage).
Sounds like a wheel balancing issue to me. Ask them if they balanced the wheels after fitting the tyres (should be standard practice - but if they're in a rush and not very reputable... ).
Another thing it might be is warped brake disks. Do you feel any vibration through the brake pedal when you touch it slightly? Not hugely expensive to fix.
Could also be a shock absorber problem. Lean down on each corner if the car and suddenly release. The car should bounce 1 - 1 1/2 times no more.
Also check each wheel for Cracks (including the insides) especially if they're ally.
Long shot - if it's a classic with wire wheels, maybe one or more spokes are loose.

How old is the car and has any work been done before on the front suspension?

It could be a plethora of reasons, including balancing issues on the tyres (a daft imbalance of 5mg can be felt insanely on the steering wheel/pedals/car itself). When you're driving straight and let go of the steering wheel - does it steer itself to one side or the other?

It could also be sparkplugs and cables - if they're worn out or problematic. Do you also feel the vibrations when you start up the car, and does it take a bit of time on a cold engine to readjust to proper idle RPM (i.e. starts off really low or really high before it goes in the 800-1k region).

Not a fan of the brake disks being warped in this case - the vibrations will appear pretty much only when braking and it's VERY notiecable, not only over X mph.

Another issues is tie rods and/or ball joints on the front wheels, and that's more costly. If it's this I'd advise you to not go up the mountains again with the car like...

I had an inner cv joint fail. Caused the car to shake at speed but only under acceleration/load

Caused one tyre to wear unevenly too. Could be that

Also as long as coils are not snapped/ broken they will be fine.

One broken and one not can cause the car to shake under load but not excessively
