Pienaar's gloves

Player Valuation: £35m
Weed, marijuana, hash, grass, skunk (the strong stuff that is often dealt in the UK).

Class B drug in the UK - formerly Class C.

Several smaller political parties - most notably the Greens - have stated that they would legislate to legalise and regulate the sale of personal quantities of cannabis.

Regulation is likely to mean testing the quality and taxing it.

There are strong arguments either way. What does GOT think?

None. Decriminalise for possession of small amounts and cultivation for personal use.

The amount of people who use it, they might aswell get tax from it

Ciggies and booze are more dangerous than a bit of pot

Having done a bit of research before I started the thread, it seems clear that weed is a lot less harmful than drink in most cases.

If drink was discovered today then it would be illegal.

Doesn't seem to be a problem, so far, in Colorado and other US states (as far as I know). It can be an important source of revenue. And no one has died from overdosing on pot, nor do I know of any cases of domestic violence or bar fights due to pot in your system (though certainly there are many violent turf wars among drug dealers about who gets to sell where).

One consequence of legalizing pot in some US states, is that now many Mexican (and US) farmers who used to grow pot for the Narco syndicates and other major dealers are now turning to opium and thus heroin use is slightly up and reaching new markets as the dealers are actively looking to push heroin on ex-meth addicts. So the some dealers are hanging out in meth-heavy towns, such as a bit north of where I live. So legalizing one drug will likely create issues with other illegal drugs.

They all should be legalized and regulated in my view. The amount the US spends on the "drug war" is staggering. And woefully ineffective.

Seeing people having to pay hundreds in fines for enough for a few j's is one of many sickening things about the justice system.

People should be allowed to enjoy a smoke if and when he or she wants, and also allowed to grow a small amount for personal use.

It will never be legalized in this country the Nanny state wont allow it, for years they have been telling us about how it leads onto other drugs
how can they suddenly say yes you are a adult and make your own decisions but to make it look right we will tax it like booze and cigs to make it look all official like and not be seen as the biggest hypocritical drug dealer in the UK the media would have a field day

There's not enough political gain to be had from a party making the legalisation of cannabis part of their election mandate, it'll therefore never happen.

The 'blind eye' of plod is as good as it'll ever get over here.
